Treatment of Weeds in an 18 Acre Lake
Check out these results!
Documented by an Ohio State Buckeye.
This site in Northern Ohio has an 18 acre lake that was plugged with weeds. Every year they added weed killer to the lake and then seed the lake with 150 fish (Amers) to eat the dead weeds, achieving minimal results.
This year they added 200 lbs. of our B570 on 6/16/97 in addition to the Amers and aeration. On 8/1/97 they noticed a 75% reduction in weeds.
This program has been continued for the last two years with significant improvement in water and fish quality.

Dear Xxxxxx,
I checked Xxxxxxxx Lake Wednesday, July 9, 1997.
- The water is a good emerald green color.
- The color shows plankton are growing.
- As you know, plankton help control water weeds by shading them to death.
- The plankton measuring disk disappears in about 16 to 18 inches water depth, this is good.
- I saw medium and small sized fish.
- I think fish populations are in balance.
- Leafy pond weed and coon tail are growing 8 to 10 inches of water along the shore. In 8 to 10 inch deep water it's almost impossible to eliminate weeds.
SUGGESTIONS
- The lake looks good continue present management.
- Watch shallow shore areas for excessive weed growth and control as needed.
- The 20 ducks increase water fertility by dropping manure in water.
- Duck manure makes weed control more difficult.
- Ducks increase many people's enjoyment of lakes and I wouldn't remove them unless their manure is a nuisance to residents.
Sincerely,
Xxxx Xxxxxx
