Municipal Plant Reduces Sludge!

Just dropping you a letter on how the Xxxxxx Wastewater Treatment Plant is performing since the use of BIO-SYSTEMS.
We started the program on May 21, 2000. Initially I was skeptical on how this product was going to work. We ran into a high flow period during the seeding process of BIO-SYSTEMS, but eventually the program fell into place. I did come to realize that it takes at least three months of running the program untilnoticable results were observed. During this three month process, you and the reps from BIO-SYSTEMS were very helpful in operational changes that took place at our plant. Overall, we are impressed with what BIO-SYSTEMS has done at the plant.
The most noticable results of BIO-SYSTEMS occured during the month of October. As you can see (see-attached spread sheet) the SVI's dropped dramatically, and the average 30 minute settleability dropped.
Now lets talk sludge. As you can see from the attached spreadsheet that by June the tons of sludge disposed of started to reduce, and overall costs are shown. Also we are using approximately five less pounds of polymer each day the belt filter press is run. It also takes less time to fill our sludge truck. We went from eight hours a day to six hours a day to fill the truck.
Xxxxxx's treatment plant is unique in the sense that we have a very limited amount of sludge storage space. We have to shut air off on both digesters and decant them daily. This daily process is requiring less time since the use of BIO-SYSTEMS. Also we are able to hold a higher percentage of solids in the digesters without compromising settlability. Since less time is required to decant out the digesters, we are able to get more projects accomplished at the plant in an eight hour day.
Overall, the use of BIO-SYSTEMS has lessened the sludge disposal costs to the point where it is not costing us any money to run the program, and we still have some money to spare.
