Our new Microbe Activated Barley Straw is specially designed to help achieve the best water quality possible for lakes and ponds. The bacteria in the Barley Straw reduce sludge in the bottom of the lake or pond while the Barley Straw itself decomposes and creates a unique environment like no other.

Since Microbe Activated Barley Straw contains no chemicals it is safe for fish, waterfowl and humans. In most cases there has been an increase in the invertebrate population providing a food source for the fish. Some studies have even shown not only improved gill function but overall improved fish health.
